Originally conceived as a celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, following the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our focus for our autumn 2022 concert turned to our new Sovereign, HRH King Charles III.
South Devon Choir presented a choral concert Crown and Glory on Saturday 26 November at St Matthias’s Church, Babbacombe Road, Torquay.
The programme featured Mozart’s Coronation Mass and pieces by Handel to reflect the glorious nature of coronation, might and majesty including Hallelujah from Messiah.
The concert was conducted by Simon Dunbavand with professional soloists Katie Wright, Rebecca Smith, Mark Hounsell and Nick Morris accompanied by the Festival Orchestra, led by Anna Cockcroft.
Despite truly torrential rain and high winds the concert was well attended and it was fantastic to be able to mingle at the interval, enjoy a glass of wine or hot drink, and enjoy time with friends, family and audience members without wearing masks or worrying about viruses. A truly memorable occasion and the choir thanks all who turned out to hear us and all who took part in making the event successful.
