Joining the Choir

Singers
Soprano Section

Try singing with our Choir

New members are very welcome and we do not require you to have an audition although you will find it an advantage to read music or to be able to follow it to a degree.  If you wish to join you are very welcome to come to rehearsals for 2 or 3 weeks to see if you enjoy singing with us and there is no obligation for you to stay or pay.

Becoming a Member

If you decide to continue singing with us then we will ask you to become a member, (which may be subject to the waiting list).  We are delighted to welcome students and young people as members (under 19s do not pay a membership fee).

Please note that South Devon Choir reserves the right to review the choral balance and other constraints involved with running a choir and you may have to wait until space is available.

How much does it cost to join South Devon Choir?

There is an annual membership fee of £150 for the season September 2022-July 2023. In addition, there is a small charge for hire of scores payable at the start of each term.

We regret that with the increase in the cost of living the membership fee has had to be raised. The more people join us to sing the more we can spread the cost of doing what we all love so please spread the word and encourage friends and family to sing, become supporters and audience members.

If the membership fee is an issue please do discuss this with our Treasurer.

Performing with the Choir

We perform two public concerts a year and you will be encouraged to attend sufficient rehearsals to be concert ready, that is, knowing the music and confident to participate in your section of the Choir.  Practice parts are usually available and you are encouraged to make use of these resources.
