As a choral director and animateur, Simon has presented workshops devoted to Hispanic renaissance masterpieces in places such as Buckfast Abbey, and directs performances of Russian Orthodox music. His other interest lies in the early Baroque music of Latin America. Simon is also a frequent lecturer on cruises, as well as inspiring singers in the Choirs-at-Sea programme.

Exploration is his greatest pleasure, and he has played the ceremonial gong at a Hindu watermelon ritual in Bangladesh, among other musical experiences across the globe.

Simon joined South Devon Choir in September 2016 and has inspired us with wonderful warm up sessions and his masterful performance at both piano in rehearsal and organ at his first concert, ‘Hallelujah! It’s Christmas!’ in December 2016.

Lunch Arrangements

St Paul’s Church is opposite a Co-operative supermarket where food may be purchased.  Alternatively you may wish to bring a picnic lunch – the hall has a large lawn area behind, with a view of the sea, and Preston seafront and beach are a few minutes walk away.  There are also a number of cafes and pubs in the area – booking is advisable.

There is parking both in front of the hall and at the rear, reached via Locarno Avenue.  There is a public car park on Torbay Road (A3022 opposite Tesco) and limited on street parking nearby.

Coming from outside Torbay, take the A380 ring road towards Paignton.  At the Marldon/Preston roundabout, take Preston Down Road towards Preston seafront.  Follow the road for about 2.5 miles to the bottom of the hill, and turn left at the traffic lights.  St Paul’s Church and the Hall are on the right after about 300 yards, opposite the Co-operative supermarket.

The venue is on the No 12 bus route, with a stop right outside.

Scores are available for hire on the day at a cost of £2.  A refundable deposit of £10 will be required when you collect your score at registration.  Please indicate on the booking form if you wish to hire a score.  If booking online please choose the correct category of ticket.
