Rejoice with Rutter – Requiem & Magnificat
Our concert for Spring 2017 is a duo of John Rutter’s major works, the Requiem and Magnificat.
Considered by David Willcocks to be “the most gifted composer of his generation” Rutter is well-known for his prolific writing of carols but possibly less well known for his orchestral works such as The Beatles Concerto. However, whether choral, carol or orchestral, his composition is prolific, varied and always wonderful to listen to.
John Rutter has composed a number of extended choral works of which the Requiem and Magnificat being sung by South Devon Choir at their Spring concert are two examples. As you will hear, the works are lively, full of emotion and extremely varied. Listen to the Magnificat and follow the score to get a preview of what you can expect to hear
